Health and Environmental Management Plan for the Aurora Dual Pipe Recycled Water Scheme.
Aurora is a new water sensitive urban housing development on the northern edge of metropolitan Melbourne.  A key water saving feature of Aurora is the dual pipe recycled water reticulation network that brings Class A recycled water to every household for outdoor use.  Ecos developed a Health and Environmental Management Plan (HEMP) for Aurora in conjunction with Water Futures to assist the client in meeting the Victorian EPA’s compliance requirements for dual pipe water recycling schemes.  Client: Yarra Valley Water.

Sanctuary Lakes Development – Urban Lake Management.
Sanctuary Lake is a 60 ha eutrophic estuarine lake located southwest of Melbourne which has posed a number of environmental challenges since its construction.  Ecos is currently undertaking a number of investigative studies aimed at identifying cost-effective solutions for the management of the lake.  These include the development of measures for control of nutrients, growth of macroalgae and seagrass and nuisance midges and the construction of a dynamic hydrological-ecological model (ELCOM-CAEDYM) with the assistance of the Centre for Water Research at the University of Western Australia.  Client: Links Living & Sanctuary Lake Club.

Macedon Ranges Shire Water Quality Protection Policy.
The Macedon Ranges Shire northwest of Melbourne is experiencing rapid population growth and as a consequence the number of unsewered houses is also increasing.  In order to protect the valuable water supply catchment areas from unsewered development, Ecos, in conjunction with Glossop Town Planning and Phillips Agribusiness, is developing a catchment water quality protection policy for the water supply catchments within the Macedon Ranges Shire.  The project is being undertaken on behalf of a consortium of retail and wholesale water authorities that service the area.  Clients: Western Water, Southern Rural Water, Coliban Water, and Goulburn-Murray Water.
